Don Campbell Band Veterans Appreciation Concert

Tuesday, July 4
6:00 PM

The Don Campbell Band will be performing a special show paying tribute to veterans on Tuesday, July 4 at 6PM at the Seaside Pavilion in Old Orchard Beach.

The show is an all-ages blend of Don Campbell original Veterans-themed songs, country, Americana, folk and rock cover songs.Don Campbell's father was a marine and a musician and the Maine singer-songwriter's best friend.

Early in his career, he started the tradition of writing a Veterans themed song with each new CD he'd release. From the anthem-ic "Veteran's Day” to his recent "The Navy Gardener”, the songs come from different but related inspirations. In 2007, he wrote "Red, White & Blue Heart” to honor the life of Pat Tillman, who gave up a lucrative NFL contract to enlist in the US Army following the attacks of 9/11. In 2011, he penned "The Snow At Arlington” based on his musical experiences with the Wreaths Across America organization and annual escort of hundreds of thousands of wreaths from Maine to Arlington National Cemetery. The organization remembers the lives of Veterans and honors those who serve with ceremonies around the country and beyond and through the work of thousands of volunteers who place wreaths on Veterans' graves. The organization adopted "The Snow At Arlington” as their theme song.
Around other performances, Veterans Appreciation concerts are performed by Campbell and his bandmates throughout the year and have become a special way for the touring musicians to get to know communities around New England and beyond.
